I have a BX23 and have been using a landpride blade on the back to move snow. It works very well except that I can't seem to raise the blade more than about four inches off the ground. Would a different top link allow me to get it higher? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Standard moldboard heights are generally too high for sub-compacts. Most manufacturers now offer cat-1 implements with cat-0 spacings that fot the BX and other subcompacts more comfortably.
A shorter top link would lift the blade higher, but would make it difficult to position the blade properly when engaging the ground.
We used to have a sub-compact. We solved the problem by fabricating longer lift arms and used a standard cat-1 top link. The arms were fairly simple to fabricate, the ends are available at many farm stores. Another option is to add quick attatch ends to the arms, available from Northerntool. These will add enough length to your lift arms that you will get the added lift you need. You will also need a longer top link, but they are available at TSC for about $20.
The third option is adding a hydrauilic top link. This would allow you to shorten the link for ground clearance, then set the length you need for proper engagement.

You need a different top link that you can turn in and out for different equipment. Should be able to get one at a Fleet-Farm or similar type store.
Need to be able to turn it to shorten it so when you bring the blade up, it comes up higher.

Adjust the shorter arm so your backblade just hits the ground, this will give it its greatest lift.

The problem with shortening the top link as the only means of getting the blade higher is it changes the angle of the cutting edge. On hard pac it needs to be aggressive and on soft unfrozen ground less agressive.
When you are parked on the level your lift arms level measure ground to hole. When your blade is level measure ground to pin. The difference is the amount you "should" add in plates by fabricating risers so you can get the most out of your set up. ....

I too made the same mistake of buying a non-subCUT blade for my BX. My solution was to replace the non-adjustable lifting rod on the left side of the 3PH with an adjustable on, as on the right side. Then both lifting rods are adjusted as short as possible without causing the lift arms or the top link to hit the frame at full lift. Mod cost: about $36. ....

We have known for several years that Kubota makes the BX series tractor with a top link that is too long.
When I got my BX I couldn't use any of my pre-existing 3 point stuff stuff. I shortened my top link by taking 2 inches out of the center and an inch off each screw and had the body welded back together.
Everything worked fine after that and there were no problems with wrong blade angles.
Not only is the link too long but it is a weird size.... it is a Cat 0 in size with Cat 1 holes. A replacement generic cat 1 link from a tractor supply store must have the swivel balls ground down to fit the socket on the tractor.
Back when I was addressing the problem on my BX, Pats Easy Change was not available. It is around now and may be the best and easiest fix for this engineering oversight. ....

Thanks for all the good suggestions. I'm especially gratefull to find that it isn't just my problem. I think I'll start with some quick connects and a second adjustable lift arm and go from there. ....
